Summer in Europe – eight things to do
by uninest on July 24, 2016

When summer comes, make sure you spend it well. There are loads of fun and fascinating things to do across Europe, so make the most of the long days.

Here’s our 8 things to do during your summer in Europe: –

1. Go to a festival.  Europe is coming down with fab festivals. For a chilled party vibe, check out Croatia with festivals like Love Festival or Obonjan, or take your experience to another level with the hippy-chic Boom festival in Europe.

.

2. Go interrailing.  Just because your parents did it doesn’t mean it’s not cool. An interrail pass gives you access to Europe’s largest network of trains and ferries, so you can roam freely. We told you it was cool.

.

3. Workaway. In exchange for a few hours’ work a day volunteering in some capacity (from childcare and cleaning to eco projects), with Workaway you’ll get food and accommodation and an unforgettable experience. It’s worldwide but there are loads available in Europe.

.

4. Go clubbing in Ibiza. Olden but golden – Ibiza is still the place for summer clubbing. Do it before you get too old to enjoy it.

.

5. Pick fruit. There’s always some fruit that needs picking somewhere in Europe and it’s a great way to pay for your travel. There are plenty of websites that’ll put you in touch with farmers looking for fruit pickers.

.

6. Be an au pair. It’s not easy work, but it is rewarding, it’s great for learning a language and you’ll get bed, board and a bit of money on top. Make sure you love children before you apply, though!

.

7. Walk in the Alps: It’ll get you fit and it’s an inexpensive way of travelling through beautiful countryside. You’ll find places to camp as well as hostels and mountain refuges. Do make sure you do it safely, though – don’t just head for the hills without preparing (and checking the forecast and conditions) first.

.

8. Dig it. Archeological sites across Europe are always keen to have willing hands to help, and for a modest sum you’ll get food, accommodation and a chance to learn about an ancient culture. Go online to find out what digs are available across Europe.
